Where are you gaining weight, belly or all over?

At first I thought it was all in my belly, but in the last three days I've had several different indications that that is just not so. I went to put on some pj's that had an elastic waste and used to be rather loose on me and were actually a little snug. And then I just went to the gym and behold some gym shorts that used to be a little big on me, fit perfectly. Which means I've gotten thicker in the hips, thighs and ocks. Is this normal or is everyone different. This is a little disheartening for me as I was trying to watch how much weight I gained, but have somewhat thrown that to the wind, but it is a very worthwhile cause and I couldn't think of a better reason to gain weight. :) I've gained 14lbs and I'm 20 weeks tomorrow. i think the story starts off too quickly. i think you should start off the story with some background information so the reader knows what kind of guy elijah is. so for example, you could say elijah was walking home from school, thinking about whatever whatever. then you can slip in some of his information. like how his social life at school is, his family life, etc. etc.. you have something interesting, but you have to develop that story into something more. the readers want a character they can relate to, that has a past and most importantly, it is your job as the author to make your character come to life.

I'll try to make this as short as possible...ok, when I was young my father died, and my father's family and my mother (who detest each other) haven't spoken since. My 12 yr. old stepsons math teacher gave him afterschool detention. She basically just sent a letter home Friday saying the he has afterschool detention Monday and to have him picked up at 3:45. It seems like the teacher has no sympathy for working parents in handling detention this way. Will I find peace???????/?

Sorry this is so long, I am 15 years old and I have recently been diagnosed with mitochondrial dysfunction. Two years ago I felt in perfect health. Two years ago that all changed in a short while when I developed mitohoncdrial dysfunciton. Only recently have I been diagnosed and I have been learning and trying to deal with all this. I am seeing a counselour but I am still coming to grips with everything. I found out recently it is inevitable that I will be in a wheelchair due to this disease. It hurts. I am in pain every single day with no relief (because I do not want to get addicted to pain kilrs). I also go through stiffness tremors, involuntary falling, nausea, etc. I am awaiting a prognosis for my form of this disease and I am scared. I don't know how to deal at all. Thre is a possibility this is terminal and I am freaked. I am very scared. I'm scared I won't be able to be independant, get married, have chidlren, be like any other gal my age. It doesn't feel like I'll ever find peace but I want it badly. It just hurts so much, everything from all this. I feel angry, sad, upet, guilty, regretful, all these emotions under the sun. Well its saturday and im so bored! I live in Southwest Iowa and my family doesnt have a whole lot of money, but we want to do something today. I love these questions! Its like trying to say which Spec Ops is better when they all have a slightly different reason for existing. The Army is bigger therefore needs more people and has a bigger pool of people to pull from for its more elite units such as Airborne, Spec Ops, or Special Forces. The Marines are smaller. They are intended to protect ships and make amphibious aults as well as land operations now a days. They do not need large standing forces such as the Army which is the main land force. Thus they have a unique role in both Naval and land warfare which doesnt require nor can support as large an organization as the Army. Due to this, they can recruit and have more stringent conditions. The Army needs a lot of people in different roles to support itself. Not every soldier is going to be a 300+ PT stud. The Army does airborne ops behind enemy lines which you need to be physically fit to do. It comes down to size and purpose. (Navy also has to support all those troops via support personnel) In reality, their basic training is only harder but their everyday operation tempo is just like a normal active duty Army Infantry unit. I think its good though that they have higher requirements for their soldiers. And I think we all believe our branch is the best branch out of all of them...LOL. Its good for espirit de Corp and camaraderie. Most of us believe that just for something to do while a small majority of those who are not objective or civilians who know little about the military actually believe one is better than the other. At the end, I would have no problem fighting beside Marines.

The smell is probably formaldehyde. Fake leather is just plastic and plastic like that can give off certain chemicals as it gets exposed to air and heat. Formaldehyde smells like dead fish. When baby learned to eat with utensils by himself or herself?

I've been wondering this myself! My son is 1 today and we are still feeding him jar food. He has taken to some of the graduate foods, but not all of them. He is also still drinking formula, but we are probably going to switch him to milk soon. He does not use utensils on his own yet either, but we haven't been willing enough to let him try to because we dread the mess!

How do I deal with my mother?

My mom, is divorced and has had a boyfriend for a year now, though she's always been this way, even with my father whom she was married with for 25 year, it's been recently bothering me to the point where we have very bad arguments and fights. She seems to disregard the fact that she has children and she'll go out of her way to please her partner while walking all over us [her children]. We could be in the bathroom on the toilet and she will literally kick us out because he [her boyfriend] needs to take a shower, she'll run around in a frantic cleaning the house and making his meals and serving him at his beck and call, she'll buy birthday cakes for us and decorate the house and arrange the furniture based on what and how he likes it. She's a completely different person in front of men. I've realized that she lives to please men and she has no self image of her own, she doesn't understand this when I've sat down to talk to her about it (I've lost count) she has no self confidence whatsoever but she's developed this complex attitude of "I come first, and from now on I'm going to think about myself" which is contrary to how she actually acts in regards to men. A couple months ago her bf wanted to cool things off and she tried to overdose on pills, she also did this with my father, and because I'm the oldest (27) I always end up taking care of my little sister, babysitting on weekends when she goes to her sleepovers, etc. I want her to be happy and I don't mind babysitting sometimes so she can have a life too, but she never appreciates it and she'll often just leave and make plans without consulting me and I'll have to put everything aside. She'll try to kick me out once in a while because I fight with her about this, she gets violent and spits and hits, and then comes back to apologize and I know she only does this because without me she would have no one to babysit my sister. I'm 27, have put my life on hold so many times because of her and she'll patronize me on not being married and leaving the house. Someone tell me how to deal with this because I can't take it anymore.

There's an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet called Shabu Shi that serves sushi, suki and tempura in a few locations in Bangkok. It's pretty good for the price and includes dessert and soft drinks. Picky eater or just being a jerk?

Fed up with anxiety. Need advice?

I'm on 20 mgs of celexa and its not working. I am still depressed and still have anxiety attacks. I feel like I know what my body needs and hate going to the doctor each time for an eval. What would happen if I straight up told my doctor that I think I need more mgs of celexa and xanax for my attacks. They are becoming more frequent and I try not to bring them up because I am embared and don't want to come off like I'm trying to get on pills. Of all the br, F-horn is unquestionably the most difficult and frustrating to learn. It is not you- it is the horn. Most good F-horn players were good trumpet players first. Don't give up playing altogether but try to get back to that which you already had success at. Flute transfers well to baritone saxophone and most kids are afraid of that huge beast. Is she too young for them? Has anyone given a 3 month old these tablets? I haven't been able to put them in her mouth, plus i am afraid she will choke, so i dissolve it in water and then give it to her. I like the idea of teething tablets because they are homeopathic--not medicine. I don't want to rely on tylenol all the time! I think I have a pecan in my lung. I have an appointment for a bronchoscopy in two week's. But this thing has been in their for apx.four month's. I had to go in an airplane two weeks ago and had a coughing fit up their. I think it moved from my right lung to my left lung. I have pain when I breath. I'm afraid and not sure what to do. People are imperfect. just because we were not found commiting a crime does not mean we were innocent. To lower crime we must adjust ourselves to laws for certain areas. Where poverty lerks we must be aware there might be more crimes. The people who are caught and found guilty should be penalized in more ways than a couple years in prison with probation. These criminals who are living in cells are often released with no jobs, who are use to crime and easy money. These criminals turn back to their old lives. We must see harsher sentences for those found guilty on several occasions. If harsher punishments were in effect we wouldnt be seeing criminals back on the street causing younger kids to lead the same lives as them.

Hey I live in S.C and here everyone is a total / hater. I have found that a person can make a unhealthy IHop of Denny's meal healthier especially breakfast. Substitute egg beater type egg substitute for regular scrambled eggs; whole grain or wheat english muffin with cholesterol free spread; low fat cottage cheese with peach slices; and low fat milk or coffee if you're caffeine consumer. Two egg substitute is 60 calories vs 140 calories in two regular eggs; cholesterol is 0mg vs 430mg in regular eggs; and the protein is the same 12mg for both. If you happen to like hash browns, then request they be dry fried on the grill with no added oil; most places these days carry turkey alternatives for the pork/beef sausages or bacon, also low in cholesterol. Your meal is as you request it to be made, no directions by you, then the unhealthy crap is dished out to you. You'll also find that at the drive through type breakfast places, if you go in and make your special request breakfast meal, you'll end up with what you want and not holding up those behind you who choose to eat crap and are burning gas waiting on you. We live in an unhealthy world and we have to hunt more often for what we want in the quest to stay healthy while the rest of the world goes along it's merry high cholesterol and sodium way. People naturally tend to make an attempt to relate to one another. Sometimes to the extreme and that is called a "One upper" Any time you say you did something they are like "Yeah well I did that three times" or "Yeah I did that too and blah blah blah as well" lol Hardly anyone likes a "one upper" but it is totally cool and NATURAL to relate to one another by comparing life experiences or favorite hobbies, and so forth.

Knee injury heeled hyper extended is sports OK with brace?

My daughter who is 13 had a severe knee injury in September 2008 while playing soccer. She broke her tibia/patella in the growth plate. She had surgery the same day where they put 2 screws in her knee. She has been going through physical therapy for the past 5 months. They noticed her knee didn't look right when they started to run her. After going back to the doctor and having MRI done they ruled out any torn ACL/MCL, but of course was hard to see around the screws. They came to the conclusion that when her knee was heeling the growth plate started closing at the same time. Now her knee is hyper extended. They do not want to do surgery, because it is too extensive for a mild alteration they would have to cut the bone and insert plate. Dr. said months of recovery time. Has anyone dealt with this before? Will she be OK to wear a brace while playing sports?

To anyone that studied abroad and stayed with a host family?

I have not actually studied abroad, but I do know several people who have. My mom went to Australia when she was in high school, and she absolutely loved it. The host family she stayed with was wonderful, and she had no problem adjusting to life in a new country. However, that's not always the case with foreign exchange students. I've also heard stories about people not getting along with their host families. But, if you are going through a reliable program, such as AFS, there should be no problem with finding a new host family. Overall, eveyone I've talked to who has studied abroad has loved the experience, and I definitely think that if you can afford it, you should do it. I am actually planning to study abroad in Italy next year, and while I'm really nervous about a lot of things, like what my host family will be like, I know that it will be an amazing year and I can't wait to go. Weird dream. What is up with me and my imagination?

I keep having this crazy dream where I'm on a bus and a Lotus Elise pulls up alongside the bus and it's being driven by a faceless man and the faceless man starts throttling me and then the faceless man and I go to a drag strip for a race and you know what car I drive in the race? A Ford Capri. Anyway we race and, after I cross the finish line, I start frantically stamping on the brake pedal, realising something is wrong with the brakes and I end up running the Capri off a cliff. I end up falling into a vat of coke at a Coca-Cola brewery and I wind the window down in the Capri and get out of the car through the window and swim through coke and also came first place. Such a funny dream. It felt so real because when I was driving the Capri I pushed the clutch down to change gear, and there was a booming sound when the car landed in the coke because the coke pressure was greater outside the car than inside so I couldn't get the door open.
