How to clean very tarnished copper?

yeah my father-in-law gave me a water sculpture thing that has water that is pumped to the top and it runs down each copper cup til it hits the bottom and repeats. he wanted me to see if i can bring the copper back to a shinny state. tried tarnex, salt, vinegar, lemon flour paste, and some other store cleaners and help
