What happens to a foreign object inhaled into the lung if it isn't taken out?

I think I have a pecan in my lung. I have an appointment for a bronchoscopy in two week's. But this thing has been in their for apx.four month's. I had to go in an airplane two weeks ago and had a coughing fit up their. I think it moved from my right lung to my left lung. I have pain when I breath. I'm afraid and not sure what to do. I'm also having problems swallowing food.
