5 hour layover in Paris - enough time to visit Eiffel Tower?

I have a 5 hour layover in Paris on the 27th (a Thursday) before I leave on my connecting train. I'm wondering if that's enough time for me to go to the top of the Eiffel tower. Last time when I was in Paris, I wanted to go to the Eiffel tower on a Sunday morning but there was a huge line so I didn't bother - would it typically be somewhat less congested on a Thursday afternoon?
