Should I join army or not?

I feel torn between going and not going. I myself detest war and everything about it. But all my friends are going to the army. Dont get me wrong I am not the kind of person who plays Call of Duty then thinks they can run and gun everyone down in Afghanistan like some Charles Bronson. I am seriously pondering this. What I really want though is to be a journalist in Afghanistan.
